I hope you have had a great week of re-focusing. What is God teaching you? If you don’t know- you need to slow down and listen. The Father does not function in Outlook Calendar or at our speed in life – He is looking for space in your schedule (margin) where He can talk. My friend Randy Smith challenges people to spend 10 minutes daily just listening in quiet- no electronics etc. Then he says your Bible study time will be more productive. The Quakers have a similar practice called “settling down” or “centering” before they begin their devotions. I find the practice very helpful. Here is a verse that may help you:
- (1) Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. (2) Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. (3) Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. (4) For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. (5) There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, (6) and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all. Ephesians 4:1-6
This Sunday is all about obedience and there is a little competition with a guy name Simon … at least that is what I heard!
