Passage for the Day

I hope you have had a great week of re-focusing. What is God teaching you? If you don’t know- you need to slow down and listen. The Father does not function in Outlook Calendar or at our speed in life – He is looking for space in your schedule (margin) where He can talk. My friend Randy Smith challenges people to spend 10 minutes daily just listening in quiet- no electronics etc. Then he says your Bible study time will be more productive. The Quakers have a similar practice called “settling down” or “centering” before they begin their devotions. I find the practice very helpful. Here is a verse that may help you:

  • (1) Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. (2) Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. (3) Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. (4) For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. (5) There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, (6) and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all. Ephesians 4:1-6

This Sunday is all about obedience and there is a little competition with a guy name Simon … at least that is what I heard!

Verse for the Day

Hey guys- as we continue to FOCUS on God’s plan and being available, here is a verse I read this morning and then prayed for you:

  • (9) So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. (10) Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.(11) We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, (12) always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. (13) For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, (14) who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. Colossians 1:9-14

Monday- Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of the Daniel Fast! This past weekend was all about passion. Our prayer is- “Lord make Us Passionate”. We described passion as “and then some”. If you missed you can listen here

Let’s chase after God with an “and then some” attitude today. As you approach the Daniel Fast remember it is an attitude- it is regaining focus. So when you have the craving- pray! I want to suggest this prayer (for today) that King David prayed. Remember David was described as a man after God’s own heart. He had that “and then some” passion for God. Listen to his prayer and then why not ask God for the same thing:

  • (23) Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. (24) Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24

Let’s begin this week by asking God to help us with some spring cleaning in our hearts. As you pray this prayer, pay attention and watch what God shows you!
