Lead When? LEAD NOW!!

Every 6 months we do an event called Lead Now.  The purpose of Lead Now is to get all of our leaders together to:

  • Cast vision for our future and talk about where we believe God is leading us.
  • Highlight areas where God is working- LIFE CHANGE!
  • Get some hands on leadership training

If you are currently serving in an area at Church at the Bay- please make sure you attend.  If you are considering volunteering – make sure you attend and check out what we are doing.  If you want to be “in the know” about the next 6 months you should come!  If you love your mama – you should come!!!!!!

It sounds like you are coming… So here is the 411:

  • We will all jump on tear down after the second service (about 12:03)
  • By 12:23pm – we will be eating Pizza
  • Please feed your children our gourmet pizza (?) and then let us entertain them.  They will stay on campus and we have secured the use of the gym for the children.  Your children will have a ball!
  • At Approximately 12:38pm we will move into the auditorium (or sooner if its hot) for our Lead Now event.
  • Our event will NOT exceed 1 hour and 29 minutes!!!
  • Please do not miss!!!

Since we are planning for food and childcare, if you haven’t signed up yet.  Email Neal@churchatthebay.com and let him know who will be attending!  I am looking forward to hanging out with a bunch of passionate Christ-Followers at CATB!  See you there.

Lead Now! Now!

This next Sunday, right after church, we will have our 2nd Lead Now!  I have always had a passion for leadership development in myself and in the organizations I lead.  I have had friends say, “Yep, leadership is Hal’s love language”.  I believe that the things that need to be done and get done always have a leader.  Here are some other ideas about leadership:

  • It is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. – About.com
  • “A manager takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go but ought to.” — Rosalyn Carter
  • “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” — John Quincy Adams
  • “a process of giving purpose (meaningful direction) to collective effort, and causing willing effort to be expended to achieve purpose.” - Jacobs & Jaques,
  • “leadership is influence – nothing more, nothing less.” – John Maxwell

I think everyone would agree it takes more than a sentence to define the art of Leadership.  When I talk about leadership, I am talking about people using their gifts and talents to move others in a certain direction.  We all can name great leaders in history who rose up to right a wrong or turn the tide of public opinion.  Most of us will never lead a national movement, but that does not mean our influence doesn’t matter.  I believe God has given all of us influence that we can either use for good, for bad, or for nothing if we allow it to atrophy.  Here is my question- How are you stewarding or leveraging your influence for God’s purposes?  Whether your platform is in the PTA, the living room, or the board room—what are you doing with your influence?

This Sunday at Lead Now, you will hear stories of life change that happened because people decided to leverage their influence for God’s kingdom.  We will talk about where we are going in 2011 and even give you some tools to be more effective in your leadership.  So here are the basics:

What is Lead Now: It is an event that will focus on leadership development. This will not be ministry specific training; it will have a global leadership focus. During Lead Now we will:

  • Eat lunch (so you must sign up)
  • Provide Childcare (so you must sign up, older children go to Gator Fred’s!)
  • Spend about 1.5 hours together in training and dreaming
  • Cast some CATB vision for the next year!

Who can participate in Lead Now: If you presently volunteer at Church at the Bay or are considering volunteering, we want you there.
How can I attend Lead Now: Email Neal@churchatthebay.com and tell him how many adults and how many children (and their ages).

This is going to be a great weekend!

Lead Now- August 15th

I believe the most powerful people force in the local church are our volunteer leaders. Church at the Bay has 100’s of people who volunteer and make a difference. I love the distinction LifeChurch.tv makes between enlisting volunteers or releasing leaders. Volunteers are enlisted to do a job, leader are released to change the world! I believe volunteer leaders are what the Apostle Paul says pastors must equip:

  • (11) Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. (12) Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-12

How do we do this at Church at the Bay? We have had several training events for different areas of ministry during the year- and will continue ministry specific training. On Sunday, August 15th (right after a quick tear down) we are unveiling a brand new tool to help develop and release leaders- LEAD NOW. Let me talk basics:

What is Lead Now: It is a bi-annual event that will focus on leadership development. This will not be ministry specific training but a global leadership focus. During Lead Now we will

Why attend Lead Now: We believe that God has called us to be difference makers in our world. We want our volunteer leaders to on, dream and implement ministry on “whole nutha level.” So, we believe we need to focus on equipping leaders.
