It’s On Like Donkey Kong!

This Sunday I unpacked our plan for reaching as many people as possible on Christmas Eve. We gave you two different invite tools.  Let me talk about them one at a time.

Tool #1 … The invite card

We gave you five this week and we will give you five more each week until Christmas Eve.  Use these to invite a friend, someone pumping gas beside you, your check-out person at the mall, your mailman, your boss and on and on.  I told you that our pastors have challenged each other to make at least one personal invite each day.  We actually have a board in the office that makes us accountable to each other.  If you know your pastors, you know we want to win- so this inviting is going over the top- one guy actually invited 7 on the first day!  We are having some fun and here is the best part-our invitations will lead to lives being changed as people come and discover God’s love!  Help us make a difference.

Tool #2 … Post-it Note

This is a pretty cool idea, actually one of my favorites.  This note has a QR code and the website url.  Both lead to a video invite to Church at the Bay for Christmas Eve!  Now let’s have some fun.  We want you to post these in unusual places and snap a picture.  You see my strategic post-it at the top of this post. Once you have taken your picture, upload the picture to our Facebook Page (click here) and get your friends to “like” it.  On Saturday Night at 6pm each week we will post the name of the winner- the person with the most “likes” for their picture posted on Church at the Bay’s Facebook Wall.  So what does the winner get?

1.  The warm feeling of knowing you had the coolest invite out there…

2.  A $25 Gift Certificate to Chili’s

3.  The envy of everyone else who posted a picture of their invite.

At the end of the day- what really matters is people discovering the love of God and a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.  How cool would it be if the gift you were able to give someone this Christmas was a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Remember – each week we will give you 5 invite cards and some post-it notes and a winner will be announced every Saturday night on Facebook!

Ready GO!

Vision… Vision… VISION

This past Sunday I talked about the Vision God has given us at Church at the Bay.  I believe God has called us to a year of challenge- so it’s time to buckle up.  We need to get laser focused on the call of God to not only spread the good news but to help people take their next best step with Jesus.  We live in a community where 85% of the people don’t attend church anywhere and the vast majority of the 85% are headed to a Christ-less eternity- HELL.  I am not good with that number and I bet you are not either.  I gave the 1st of many challenges this weekend- I asked CATBers to give me names of friends who need to come to faith in Jesus and they were inviting to CATB.  Sunday afternoon I prayed for over 150 people by name that CATB listed on the communication cards.  Now it’s your turn, will you invite your friends to attend this Sunday and pray that they discover a personal relationship with Christ and He changes their eternal destination- I am praying for that!

I also told you Sunday that we will do anything short of sin to help people discover a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Let’s crank it up not by being odd for God or trying to argue people into heaven but by showing people we care and then inviting them to come to CATB.  We will continue to work hard to make CATB a safe place to hear a dangerous, life changing message.  Two services has allowed us to see more people stepping up and serving- especially in the kids area.  One of the coolest things is that I get is to hear stories from parents about their kids loving Church at the Bay!  I had a mom tell me this past Sunday (with tears in her eyes) how grateful to God she was for Church at the Bay kids workers.  She said they had attended church a little before coming to CATB and the kids were always hard to get out the door.  Then she told me- “We have been coming to CATB for 13 weeks (stared with our According to Jim series) and her children are ready to go to church 20 minutes before they need to be!”  Thank you Jesus- thank you kids workers- thank you Church at the Bay for being a church that is willing to do “whatever it takes”.

Remember 9:30 and 11:00am this Sunday!

Christmas in JULY!

I confess- I am a Christmas-holic. I love everything about Christmas

  • The decorations
  • Malls
  • Parties
  • Buying gifts
  • Peoples attitudes
  • Generosity
  • The gift of Jesus Christ

So we figured why not celebrate Christmas in July at Church at the Bay. This is what we are thinking, we will partner with a church we helped start, Common Ground Church, and provide them with backpacks for needy kids in their community. During the month of July people will bring a back pack (supply list will be given in June) stuffed with school supplies. These back packs (several hundred I believe) will be given to Common Ground Church to help them reach their community (in early August). They will meet a need and hopefully gain access to share the good news with a family. So let’s get this party started. If you find backpacks on sale or know where some good prices are- please leave a comment and I will post it. We don’t want any money on this- we want backpacks. Everyone can do at least one- I am praying many will do 5, 10 or 25. We will talk more about this… Can you believe it- we will celebrate Christmas twice this year!

Maximizing Christmas

Merry Christmas from the Church at the Bay Staff
Christmas is a busy time of the year for all of us. At The Bay we are trying to maximize the outreach opportunity of Christmas this year.

  • We are doing a Servant Evangelism project every night this week. This means about 6-8 people handing out candy canes and invite cards at a busy intersection.
  • We gave out 2500 door hangers for our folks to give to their neighbors inviting them to a Christmas weekend service
  • Our Home Teams sponsored 3 block parties.
  • Our staff played the middle school for a charity Basketball game Monday nigh
  • We will be baptizing in all of our services.

Our schedule Christmas Weekend looks like this:

Sunday: 9:30 and 11:00am

Monday 5:00 and 6:30pm

May God give you a great Christmas as we celebrate the gift of His son!

Merry Christmas,
Hal
