For years I have been amazed at how God has taken a guy with so many miss-steps, miss-ques, and miss-speaks and still uses me. I remember so many failures and times of disobedience in my life and yet when I repent and trust Jesus’ for forgiveness – He uses me and often uses my failure as a platform for His message. God has not only redeemed me- he has redeemed my failure and uses it for His glory. So on an Easter weekend when we see so many people said yes to following Jesus, said yes to Baptism, said yes to serving, and said yes to God- I am so thankful to Jesus for His grace and strength.

There is also a group of people I am thankful for and it’s our pastors and volunteers! God used you all in HUGE ways. Let me see if I can list a few, let’s begin with Friday Night:

Friday night the band and tech team nailed our Night of Worship. Great job!

We Baptized 20 and the baptistry was leaking like a broken pot for the whole service. BUT- our team kept mopping, emptying water, and smiling.

I thought the Lord’s Supper experience was moving as volunteers led it around tables.

Now how about Sunday:

Set-up and tear down people- you blow me away- every week you get us going!

Our greeters were spot on from the parking lot to the front door. I loved watching greeters escort 1st time guests to kids check in and class rooms.

The ushers doubled up and did a great job of seating people.

Tech team another great job

Our kids volunteers cared for almost 200 children! Wow- thank you!

So I just want to say- Thank you Church at the Bay for saying yes to God- and yes to doing whatever it takes to help people take their next step with Jesus. It’s an honor to serve as your lead pastor.

I did have someone ask me if I “lip synced” the song I sang. I told them, “no, the song was live- I lip synced the sermon.

The vital value of HONOR/RESPECT seems to have been lost in our culture today. Growing up my, my Dad made it clear that we would give honor and respect to our elders. My Dad taught us to say “yes sir” and “no sir”; “yes ma’am” and “no ma’am” to all adults. When we received a gift we were taught (required or we had to give it back) to say “thank you”. My Dad also had a certain skill set that made all of us kids want to do whatever he asked. So I taught that to our children. One day in middle school the teacher correct my daughter Ashley for saying “Yes Ma’am”. The teacher said, “Ashley, that really isn’t necessary, yes and no will be fine”. Ashley explained (with respect), “Thank you but you see that is my Dad’s rule and he enforces it, so I need to continue to say yes ma’am and no ma’am”. Of course, I loved it. I think it is a parent’s responsibility to teach their children to treat EVERYONE with dignity and respect. I would agree that sometimes a hard fast rule like that does not fit and yet I know of no other way to teach children how to respect people. I would agree that sometimes a hard fast rule like that does not fit and yet I know of no other way to teach children how to respect people and if you don’t like my plan- no big- I hope you have a plan of your own that will work.

This past Sunday at Lead Now we honored and said thank you to DON AND LEE PREISER. Don served as our Children’s Pastor for the 1st 6 years of CATB. Lee (Don’s wife) served with Don and focused on our elementary grades. We thanked them for their attitude as they served God, the way they loved Jesus and the way they loved and cared for our children. Church at the Bay is a better church today because of Don and Lee’s sacrifice and service. Our church gave Don and Lee several gifts. My guess is this video will be viewed in the future as the best gift of all! Want to see why?
