This weekend we conclude our series “Fish or Cut Bait”. I have been a Christ-Follower for over 35 years now. I am so grateful to Doug Ellis for deciding to “Fish” and share his faith with me. My journey did not begin at a church. It began at a weekly student Bible Study called, “the Ellis’s” (it later became known as Metro Bible Study, Atlanta). Church at the Bay looks a lot like that Bible study. There was a band, casual atmosphere and biblical teaching focused on life change. A couple of older guys snagged me up after I trusted Christ as my Savior and took me out sharing my faith every Saturday night- this freaked me out at first. The leader of this rag-tag group was Charles Ellis (the Bible Study was held at his home initially), hence the groups nickname was “Charley’s Raiders”. It was in that environment that I developed a passion for seeing other people come to faith in Christ. That has never left me nor has it left Jesus’ plan for the local church. I hope you plan to come this weekend as we conclude this series with- “It Really is Simple”. I plan to take our final week and talk about what believing in Jesus really is and what it is not. Truth is- the Gospel message really is simple to understand. Too many people reject Jesus today because they have a jaded or inaccurate view of what the basics of salvation really are. When we are done you will be equipped to share your faith with one verse from the New Testament. See you Sunday! By the way, if you have a friend who is open to the Gospel- bring them because it will be made very clear.
