Book Recommendation: THE FOUR OBSESSIONS OF AN EXTRAORDINARY EXECUTIVE

I read everything Patrick Lencioni writes. I re-read this the other day and thought I would recommend it. "The Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive" is a leadership book written by Patrick Lencioni. The book focuses on the four key areas of focus for leaders who want to build successful organizations:

  1. Building a Cohesive Leadership Team - The first obsession is building a cohesive leadership team, where team members trust one another, engage in healthy conflict, commit to decisions, hold each other accountable, and focus on collective results.

  2. Creating Organizational Clarity - The second obsession is creating organizational clarity, which involves developing a clear and compelling reason for the organization's existence, establishing specific and measurable goals, and defining the company's values, culture, and strategic priorities.

  3. Communicating the Organizational Clarity - The third obsession is communicating the organizational clarity to everyone in the organization, from top to bottom. Leaders must use consistent messaging, repeat key messages frequently, and ensure that employees understand and embrace the company's goals and values.

  4. Reinforcing Organizational Clarity - The fourth and final obsession is reinforcing organizational clarity by hiring, firing, promoting, and rewarding employees based on their alignment with the company's values and goals. Leaders must also establish systems and processes that support the company's priorities and culture.

Overall, the book emphasizes the importance of leadership teams that are cohesive and aligned, and an organization that is clear, focused, and values-driven.
